If you are still using Symantec Endpoint Protection 11, it is important that you upgrade to the latest version of Symantec Endpoint Protection immediately to ensure you are protected against the latest security threats.
If you are using the managed Symantec Endpoint Protection client (indicated by a green dot on the Symantec shield in your system tray) and the version number is 11, please contact IT support in your department or Computing Services and Systems Development directly to obtain the latest version. So there was something wrong with the virus definition update engine.I tried to manually launch Live Update on SEPM various times, but no use, Every time update all other definitions excluding Antivirus updates. This way you can migrate your test VM’s first, without touching your production catalogs.
If you do want to process all VM’s in one run just use an asterisk (*) for the Catalog Name parameter. After few minutes , it will automatically push the definition to SEPM console and it will be distributed to clients in few minutes, All of my clients (100 ) took about 20 minutes to update. Below is an excerpt from the Symantec Antivirus knowledgebase, Symantec antivirus, although it updates the same as before, doesn't recognize a date newer than 2009.Check the notification icon and the log file right after a VM has booted up. The only thing left to do is give you the migration script: Download here Until next time!
